Moscow, March 16, 2021 – The Association of Quality Consumables Manufacturers and Suppliers (AQCMS) and Information Agency “Business-Inform” organized and held on March 16 the online-conference “New Chinese Cartridges are Mythbusters of Common Facts”. The Conference saw participation by the representatives of 149 Russian companies — buyers of office printing devices and corresponding supplies.
The Conference was devoted to the discussion of the article «New Chinese Cartridges are Mythbusters of Common Facts» by Alexey Belikov and Stanislav Malinsky, published in the BUSINESS-INFORM Review magazine (issue # 30, 2021).
During the Conference three reports were presented:

— Remanufactured Cartridges on the Russian Market – Statistics and Tendencies for 2018-2020. The Reality Contradicts the Common Statements (Stanislav Malinskiy, BUSINESS-INFORM Group)

The common statements are – remanufactured cartridges are remanufactured OEM cartridges, NBCs are of single-use not to be remanufactured. The statistics for the Russian market 2020 – the share of remanufactured/refilled cartridges constituted 65% of all cartridges used in Russia. The average number of remanufacturing/refills of quality cartridges in 170 Russian centers of remanufacturing surveyed by Information Agency “Business-Inform” in 2020 constituted 3.6 for OEM-cartridges and 3.4 for quality NBCs. On the whole for the Russian market the share of remanufactured/refilled NBCs in 2020 constituted 20.9 mln. units, that is 48.9% from the total number of remanufactured/refilled cartridges; If the old myths are still being spread it means they are still required; By whom?; Do the customers still need it?

The statements are – OEM cartridges are out of all suspicions, Chinese NBCs are toxic, unsustainable, cheap toner is dangerous for your health; When did this information appear and how much truth is in it?; The testing of OEM-cartridges, remanufactured-cartridges and NBCs done in 2019-2020 – more questions than answers. The testing of plastics – attention, bromine and bromine compounds in OEM-cartridge plastics requires control and additional research!; Bromine compounds – are they really safe, or is it a time-bomb? Until September 2015 meldonium has not been considered a doping, so what will happen to bromine compounds in OEM cartridge plastics? The testing of toners – attention! The toner in OEM cartridges requires control and additional research; The testing of plastics and toner from 30 most wide-spread brands of Russian compatible cartridges – the numbers are scary, but are not surprising. Mew Chinese “decaBDE-free” NBCs – the testing in the Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Science confirms the environmental safety of cartridges; The ban on supplying toxic cartridges on alternative market and its implementation in 2021-2022. The participants of the Conference discussed together with the speakers provided information, recommendations and testing results, practical aspects of quality cartridges procurement organizing and their printing quality control aspects. As a surprise for all the participants of the Сonference there has been free issue “Testing and Quality”, published by Information Agency “Business-Inform”.
In the end of the Conference, the Participants thanked the organizers and speakers and expressed the wish to continue the discussion of the urgent issues of the office printing industry within the framework of other AQCMS Online Conferences for Russian corporative buyers of printing devices and consumables.
