Despite the 13.7% year-over-year (YOY) global decline of the laser market in the fourth quarter of 2015 (Q4 2015), the shipment of high-end color laser devices (45 ppm+) continued to report growth with 182,000 units.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the worldwide hardcopy peripherals (HCP) market (for laser and inkjet combined) decreased 10.8% YOY to 27.58 million units shipped in Q4, with inkjet experiencing a decline of 9.6% YOY.
Other highlights from the Q4 2015 include:
- The trend for contracts continues to grow YOY in Q4 2015 with more than 1.6 million units being shipped for managed print services.
- Epson outperformed all other vendors in the top 5 in Q4 with approximately 4.9 million units shipped, flat from last year. The vendor’s L series remains strong despite now having competition from all other major vendors. Epson also enjoyed YOY growth in the business inkjet segment with its large ink tanks.
