Office Printing – 2022: the Issues of Environmental Safety and Cyber Security

Moscow, August 09, 2022 — Information Agency “Business-Inform” and the Association of Quality Consumables Manufacturers and Suppliers held the Conference dedicated to the issues of environmental safety and cyber security in using office printing devices.

 The Information Agency “Business-Inform” and the Association of Quality Consumables Manufacturers and Suppliers (AQCMS) held the Conference, on August 09th this year, Office Printing – 2022: the Issues of Environmental Safety and Cyber Security. During the Conference the most urgent issues of environmental safety and cyber security in using office printing devices were thoroughly reviewed, as well as their possible solutions and recommendations on practical aspects of digital transformation of business processes. The Conference saw participation by the representatives of 122 Russian businesses and organizations. The sponsors of the Conference were the companies: DaLZ Ltd.(Moscow), Cuhdo Ltd. (Moscow), INKOTEK Ltd. (Moscow) and Business-Inform Group.

 During the Conference 4 reports were heard:

  • “The Issues of the Information Security and Environmental Safety on the Russian Market and their Solution for 2022-2023” (speaker – Stanislav Malinskiy, Russian University of Transport)

The Report Theses: The economic and political sanctions are changing the Russian market; new requirements towards the information security and environmental safety in organizing the supply of printing devices and consumables for 2022-2023; new requirements towards the suppliers; the responsibility of business directors for violating the requirements of cyber security in procuring and using of office printing devices; the Zero Trust policy and its implementation in Russian organizations and industrial businesses; the vulnerabilities of printing devices, their definition and removal; passive and active methods of protection and the legislative limitations on their use; new requirements towards the IT-outsourcing in modern conditions; environmental issues in using office printing devices and the corresponding solutions; legislative restrictions in procuring laser cartridges and the responsibility for their violation.

  • “Printers, Copiers, MFPs and Cartridges – the Sources of Vulnerabilities. The Audit of Printing Devices in Russian Organizations during 2021-2022: the Results, Conclusions and Recommendations” (speaker — Stanislav Malinskiy, Russian University of Transport)

The Report Theses: Office printing and it’s organizing: legal, administrative, and program-technical aspects; micro-program, system, and applied software: the vulnerabilities open and hidden, methods of passive and active protection; the leading manufacturing-brands of printing devices and the policies in the field of providing information safety; printing devices Brother, Canon, HP, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Lexmark, Ricoh, Xerox – the vulnerabilities are known and published, why aren’t they removed; the vaccination doesn’t guarantee the protection against the viruses; the passive and actives protection measures and legislative restrictions on their use; the audit of printing devices in Russian organizations in 2021-2022: the main results and conclusions; political sanctions and state cyber-crime of European Countries and US in 2022; new methods of active protection and their implementation; there are no more “untouchables”, the cyber-attacks must be repelled and cyber-criminals destroyed.

The participants of the Conference discussed together with the speakers the provided information, the perspectives of supplying of new printing devices and corresponding quality consumables on the Russian market. A special attention by the Conference participants was paid towards the practical aspects of environmental and information protection in the conditions of political and economic sanctions in 2022-2023.

As a nice surprise for all the Conference participants came the new issue of BUSINESS-INFORM Review magazine (issue #35, 2022) and its appendix “Testing and Quality” (July 2022).
