Recent ranking of preliminary patent results show that Canon Inc. remains first in ranking among Japanese companies for the number of U.S. patents won in 2016.
According to the results issued by IFI CLAIMS Patent Services, Canon ranks third overall in number of US patents it owns in 2016. The company claims that it prizes the corporate DNA of placing a high priority on technology. It also actively promotes the globalization of its business and places great value on obtaining patents overseas.
With the patent-filing strategy to pursue patents in essential countries and regions, the United States becomes an important region for Canon for its number of high-tech companies and large market scales.
Canon maintains that its aims are to improve its technological capabilities and further enhance its intellectual property rights through close cooperation between the technology and intellectual property divisions.
